A simple method
- Identify the exact claim.
- Find the original source, not only a repost or screenshot.
- Check the date, context and missing limitations.
- Ask who benefits if the audience accepts the claim.
- Compare with credible sources that disagree.
Conflict of interest matters
Being paid, holding an asset, earning a referral fee or promoting a personal product does not automatically make information false. It does mean the relationship should be visible so the reader can judge it properly.
